Adama Plant-Based Gluten-Free Comfort Cuisine is Santa Barbara’s first completely vegan and gluten-free restaurant. We serve what we would eat ourselves, so there is a strong emphasis on organic ingredients, including the obscure ones that nobody ever asks us about. We have our own bakery. Custom cakes are available if you call ahead.
Located in the building that once housed Santa Barbara’s oldest restaurant, serving since at least 1926, Adama is filled with interesting nooks and crannies, including a room with a lovely mission fireplace, perfect for sipping an almond milk latte and catching up on your e-mail. Or enjoy a glass of wine or beer from our bar!
With local art on the walls and an intriguing mosaic coffee bar constructed by Santa Barbara’s own Dan Chyrnko, dining here is a bit of an event. We currently serve our completely plant-based gluten-free lunch and dinner every day (Mondays dinner only) On Saturdays and Sundays, Adama also offers breakfast, with the doors opening at 8:30 am.
Adama is centrally located a block off of State Street in downtown Santa Barbara. There is quite a bit of parking behind the restaurant. Weekdays before 5, park in the spaces that say “Adama”. After 5 daily and all day on weekends, all of the spaces are for Adama customers except for the first 6 on the left as you enter the lot. Even the ones that don’t have our name. We look forward to your visit. Please, no outside food. If you are planning on bringing your own wine, please call ahead so that we can verify that it is vegan and gluten-free. Thank you for helping us to provide a safe dining environment.
